广东北电通信设备有限公司成立于1995年3月，是全球通信巨头北电在华投资的核心公司，一直致力于引进高端技术，积极推进研发、生产和服务的本地化。凭借领先的通信技术、可靠的产品质量以及专业的客户服务，广东北电已成为北电海外最大的研发、生产和服务基地，为中国，乃至全球的客户提供优质专业的产品和服务。 1994年11月，在中加两国政府的关怀下，广东北电成立合同在北京正式签订，早期主要生产DMS系列固网交换机。为适应市场发展需求，广东北电于1999年率先建立国内第一条本地生产GSM和CDMA无线通信设备的生产线，2002年更首次向巴基斯坦无线服务供应商Ufone出口GSM设备。截止2007年，广东北电共实现销售收入310亿元，其中出口销售约4亿美元，产品销售覆盖全国27个省、市、区以及全球多个国家。此外，2007年，广东北电率先建立北电大中华区首个硬件开发实验室、并以行内著称的精益六西格玛理念改善企业内部管理，以出色的供应链管理优势和质量管理体系进一步加快本地化的进程，以实际行动贯彻对通信技术领域可持续发展的责任和义务。
为坚守对广大客户的承诺，向用户提供安全可靠的通信技术，1995年12月广东北电研究开发中心在广州正式建立。作为北电在中国设立的两大研发中心之一，广东北电研发中心承担着为大中华区和亚太地区的业务伙伴提供技术支持与服务的重任，并且以高适应性的开发流程和强大的研发团队出色地完成各项研发任务。为加强研发力量，保持技术创新的领先地位，广东北电不断增强对研发的投入，优化研发环境。2008年6月，广东北电研发中心新址将投入使用，研发人员和工程师将扩增到1300多人，研发重点覆盖无线网络，下一代网络、多媒体服务的应用，以及如何通过统一通信平台提高对运营商、应用服务开发商等客户的支持。届时，广东北电将进一步拓展研发优势，发挥出更大的潜力和作用。
